PTA shirt ideas for PTA and PTO volunteers
What should a PTA or PTO shirt say?
A PTA or PTO shirt should say the school name and the word volunteer clearly enough that a new parent knows who to ask. Board members often add their role on the back. Keep the design friendly and simple, pick the school color as the shirt color, and order a few extra in common adult sizes for new volunteers.

Parent volunteers are the busiest people at any school event and the hardest to find. A shirt in the school color with the word volunteer on it turns them into a help desk that walks around.
The ideas below cover the usual PTA and PTO year: back-to-school, the book fair, carpool and spirit nights, teacher appreciation and the end-of-year carnival. None of them use a mascot or an association logo, so you can print them without asking anyone's permission.

What to sort out before you order.

Order a spare stack in adult M, L and XL
New volunteers join all year. Ten spares in the common adult sizes save a second order in October.

Check what the association allows
If your group is part of a state or national PTA, read its logo guidelines before you add its mark. A PTO with no affiliation can design freely.

Sell spirit wear and fund the year
A spirit night hoodie or tote sold at a markup is one of the simplest PTO fundraisers. The fundraiser calculator shows the margin before you order.
When to order
PTA and PTO orders peak before back-to-school in August and again before teacher appreciation week in May.
For back-to-school night in mid-August (Sunday, August 15, 2027), request your quote by Monday, July 19, 2027 and approve the mockup by Monday, July 26, 2027.

Before you order.
When should our PTO order volunteer shirts for back-to-school?
At least four weeks before the first event you need them for. For mid-August, request a quote by mid-July, which means collecting board sizes before school lets out.
Can a PTA or PTO pay with a purchase order?
Schools and districts can pay Net 30 on an approved purchase order. A parent organization with its own bank account usually pays the Stripe invoice by card or ACH at quote approval.
Can we use the PTA logo on our shirts?
Only within the association's own logo rules. A PTA affiliated with a state or national association should check those guidelines first. The ideas on this page use no association marks.
How can our PTO make money selling spirit wear?
