Work backward from your event date
Most merch problems aren't about the product — they're about timing. A homecoming game, a conference, an onboarding week, a race: the date is fixed, and the boxes have to land before it. The fix is to plan the order backward from the event instead of forward from today.
Here's the math this calculator runs. From an approved mockup, production takes about 10 business days (roughly two weeks), shipping to one US address adds about 5 business days, and we add a 5-business-day buffer for a revision or a carrier hiccup. That's about 4 weeks from mockup approval to in-hand. Working back one more step, you'll want to request your quote a few business days before that, because a free mockup comes back fast (quotes arrive within 12 hours) but you still want time to review it, tweak the art, and sign off.
So the tool gives you two dates: the day to approve your mockup so production can start on time, and — a little earlier — the day to request your quote. Ordering to many addresses or packing per-recipient kits? That adds about a week, and the calculator folds it in for event types that usually ship that way.
