Choosing the fabric for a race shirt
The participant shirt is part of what people pay for, and runners judge it on one thing: what it is like to wear once they are actually sweating. Cotton absorbs and holds moisture, which is why a cotton race tee is heavy and cold at the finish. Ask for your shirts in a moisture-wicking polyester blank instead: it moves sweat to the surface and dries, which is the entire reason technical fabric exists. Pick the tee in the studio and tell us the race is the use, and we quote the technical blank.
Decoration matters as much as fabric here. A large plastisol screen print on a technical shirt is a sheet of non-breathable film across the chest of a garment bought specifically to breathe, so we decorate race shirts by DTF or sublimation instead. Both carry no per-colour setup charge, which means a full-colour design with every sponsor logo costs no more than a one-colour one.
