Mission trip shirt ideas for your team and supporters

What should a mission trip shirt say?

A mission trip shirt should name the team, the destination and the year, so the whole group is easy to spot in an airport. Pick a bright shirt color for travel days, keep the design simple enough to read from across a terminal, and consider a second supporter shirt you can sell at home to help fund the trip.

Mission trip shirts are working clothes first. They get worn on travel days so the leader can count heads at the gate, on the work site where they will collect paint and dirt, and in the photo that goes in next year's newsletter.

Many teams order two designs: a bright team shirt for the trip and a quieter supporter shirt that families and the congregation buy to help cover costs. Both are below, along with a few accessories that earn their space in a carry-on.

Pick one, then make it yours.

Every idea opens in the design studio on the suggested blank. Change the words, the shirt color or the print method there, and the free mockup comes with your quote.

The panels above are type sketches of each idea, not photos of finished orders. Bracketed words stand in for your own names.

Planning

What to sort out before you order.

1

Order before fundraising, not after

Supporter shirts raise the money for the trip, so they need to be on hand weeks before you leave. Order them in the same run as the team shirts.

2

Bright for travel, dark for work

One bright shirt for airport days and one darker shirt for the work site is a common and sensible split.

3

Ship to the church, not the team

Orders ship to one US address. Have them sent to the church office and hand them out at the commissioning service.

When to order

Summer trips are planned in winter and shirts are usually ordered in early spring, so supporter shirts can be sold at home first.

For a team leaving in late June (Sunday, June 20, 2027), request your quote by Monday, May 24, 2027 and approve the mockup by Monday, May 31, 2027.

Itemized quote by the next business morning (CT). Then about 2 weeks of production plus 1 week of shipping.

Questions

Before you order.

When should we order mission trip shirts?

At least four weeks before the date you need them in hand. If you are also selling supporter shirts to raise money, order eight to ten weeks before departure so the fundraiser has time to run.

Can supporter shirts and team shirts be one order?

Yes. Two designs can run in one order, shipped together to one address, and each design is priced on its own quantity on the quote.

Can you ship shirts to our destination country?

No. Every order ships duties paid to one address in the United States. Most teams have shirts sent to the church and carry them over in their luggage.

What shirt color is best for a mission trip?

A bright color such as blue or white is easiest to spot in an airport. For a construction or painting site, a darker shirt such as charcoal hides wear better.
